Well, Mr. Irrelevant may have just set a new record. He may be the first last pick to change the first pick. The Chiefs accepted their lot in NFL life and got ultra conservative and barely finished any drives leading to 5 Ryan Succup Field Goals. Not one to be out done in gift giving the Vikings decided to display offensive line play so bad even David Carr went "Damn!". Without further ado lets see how these events affect the Suck for Luck campaign.
In the driver's seat
Miami Dolphins 0-4
Dolphin fans better get very used to the picture above for the foreseeable future. Chad Henne was moved to the IR where he will get surgery and serious questions about him ever being a starter on a NFL team again abound. Losing by only 10 to San Diego itself wasn't that bad, but Brandon Marshall's sudden butter fingers epidemic is. Getting the number one pick is a perfect storm of bad play, coaching, and injuries. Miami is quickly piling up all three.
Prediction: Miami 13, New York Jets 30
Rounding out the top 5 for Luck
Indianapolis Colts 0-4
These Colts are nothing if not fiesty. Another close game resulted in another close loss for the Colts keeping them in the hunt for the top pick. Further more the Colts can cement their position as a prime contender for Luck by rolling over for the Chiefs. The problem is Manning has been cleared to be on the sidelines and seems motivated by all the Suck for Luck talk to come back and prove this is still his team. Add to that the fact the defense is fairly salty in Indy. This game will be huge for both teams as its very winnable for both, neither QB is even remotely good under pressure and both teams will be bringing it.
Prediction: Indy 27, KC 24
Minnesota Vikings 0-4
A handful of years ago my favorite player in the league was Donovan McNabb, what a difference a few years makes. The Vikings are terribad, bottom line. The Chiefs voted by most experts as the worst team in the league could only score mostly by FG's and armed with one of the best RB's in the league the Vikings still couldn't win. Seemingly the only thing standing in the way of pronouncing the Vikings the favorite for winning the top pick is the fact that eventually, at some time, I mean they have to don't they, Christain Ponder will come in to take over for McNabb........right?
Prediction: Minnesota 14, Arizona 24
St. Louis Rams 0-4
Rams fans are starting to get restless and even some have begun to question QB Sam Bradford. Its absolutely silly to do so considering this team is terrible still and Bradford injured, remember Peyton Manning went 3-13 once upon a time. However, the champs are coming to town next with Dallas after that there is no reason to believe the Rams won't be losers of two more. The up side is being in the worst division in football means wins are mostly likely coming.
Prediction: St Louis 17, Green Bay 42
Kansas City Chiefs 1-3
OK, admittedly a valid case for Seattle being here is valid, however this is a Chief's fan's blog and on the more fact based side Seattle is in the worst division in football so wins are more possible for them. Our hero Matt Cassell came up so huge throwing away the game against San Diego, came out firing on all cylinders after arguing with coach on the sideline and reminding us why they paid him 60 million dollars. Now they're all nicey nicey in the media, does Matt return as the conquering hero in Indy or back to the lovable loser we know and need?
Prediction: Kansas City 24, Indy 27
The Suck for Luck Campaign

Tuesday Rumor Mill and News
ESPN has released its weekly power rankings and our boys in red come in first (or last depending on your point of view) at 32! See them at: ESPN NFL Power Rankings
Reports are surfacing that the Colts are looking into signing a QB off the street with early candidates coming in Dan Orlovsky and old friend Brodie Croyle per the Indy Star. Could you imagine Brodie leading the Colts into Arrowhead?
Don't look now but the Bengals are softening their stance on not trading Carson Palmer. SF, Seattle, and most notably Miami are rumored destinations should they finally decide to move the retired QB. This would be a huge development and likely take a competitor out of the race as Palmer is easily worth 3 to 5 wins on his own not to mention the fact the team that gets him would no longer need Luck.
The Tim Tebow craze will not die. Mark Kiszla of the Denver Post has written an article imploring Denver to start using Tebow now that they're sitting at 1-2. Don't forget Kyle Orton was coveted by Miami and if Tebow does finally work his way into the lineup don't rule out a move by Denver to trade Orton. Denver Post Article
Minnesota seems still firmly behind McNabb. When asked about making a switch the Vikes HC responded "Ah, no," Frazier said. "I don't think our quarterback position is our problem right now."
Sticking with the Vikes, star RB Adrian Peterson is tired of losing and doesn't understand why he's not getting more carries in a video on ESPN here: ESPN AP Video

Post Week 3 Update
For the first update of our Suck for Luck Chiefs campaign we will track the 0 win teams as well as take a look at how much competition they should provide the Chiefs
Our boys in red scared us for a while there by imitating a competitive team, but old reliable Matt Cassell came through at crunch time to keep our hopes alive! Cassell currently has 3 TDs and 5 INTs that’s a great recipe for disaster and barometer for a legit terrible team. The next two weeks will either seriously boost or hurt our campaign's chances as the Chiefs take on 2 other 0 win teams in Indy and up next Minnesota.
Biggest Obstacle to top pick: A once thought uber tough schedule is suddenly looking much easier than originally thought and provides many opportunities for fluke wins derailing the top pick campaign.
Biggest Help to top pick: Also their schedule. The Chiefs literally control their own destiny for the top as they face just about every major contender for the top pick and losses to those teams would go far in cementing their place as the first loser.
Minnesota Vikings 0-3
Current QB situation: Donovan McNabb (starter) Christian Ponder (drafted in first round last year). Highly unlikely the Vikes take Luck even if they do possess the number one pick. Chance of drafting Luck: Nil
Miami Dolphins 0-3
The fish again came up just short and fell to the Browns this week to remain winless. Chad Henne looked so promising against New England, but couldn’t overcome 5 sacks a pick to victory. This was one of the easier games on the schedule for Miami and a loss here certainly makes them our main adversary to the number one pick. Might Nov 6 at Kansas City be the Luck Bowl?
QB Situation: Chad Henne. Chad has shown flashes of brilliance to match frustrating inconsistency. The Dolphin management showed their lack of true faith in Henne in their offseason pursuit of Bronco’s QB Kyle Orton. Chance of drafting Luck: Bank on it.
Biggest Obstacle to top pick: Chad Henne. Henne knows this is his last chance to make a case to be a starter whether thats on this team or another. Expect him to never stop trying to win and prove he deserves to be a starter in this league.
Biggest Help to top pick: Schedule. The AFC East is just silly hard and Dolphins get to see all those teams twice.
Indianapolis Colts 0-3
The Colts looked a lot like the Chiefs this week as they matched up against a power team in the Steelers and nearly stole a victory. Hopefully they can keep this up, but the injury to Kerry “I was at the Alamo” Collins seemed to knock them out of their competing ways. On the bright side Indy has the easiest schedule of all the winless teams so the odds of a few fluke wins are high.
St. Louis Rams 0-3
The Rams are very similar to the Chiefs in that they are a young team hobbled by injuries. The major difference is at quarterback where Sam Bradford gives them a legit chance to win any game they’re in. Add the fact they reside in the NFC West the absolute worst division in football and its very possible the Rams fall quickly out of contention for the top pick.
QB Situation: Sam Bradford. Sam is the league’s last overall number one big money man and his initial play has done plenty to back that payday up. Lately injuries have set him back but he is in no danger of losing his job. Chance to draft Luck: Are pigs flying?
Biggest Obstacle to top pick: Their division. We're talking about a group that put a division winner in Seattle in the playoffs with a losing 7-9 record last year. This group would fear a road game against the Bearcats.....of Northwest Missouri State. Expect a few easy wins in the Rams future.
Biggest Help to top pick: The injury bug. This team just can't seem to stay healthy as every week they lose a productive player to injury.

Minnesota Vikings 0-3
The Vikings started strong and then improbably snatched defeat from the jaws of victory after jumping out to a 20-0 lead and even leading 20-10 into the fourth quarter with one of the top running backs in the league and still managed to lose. Two of the three remaining undefeated teams are in the Vikings division (Green Bay and Detroit) normally making this a team in grand position to march towards the number one pick. However, Adrian Peterson gives us hope. The former Sooner is a perennial fantasy favorite for good reason and you have to figure that behind his strong rushing the Vikes will gain a handful of victories, hopefully starting next week.
Current QB situation: Donovan McNabb (starter) Christian Ponder (drafted in first round last year). Highly unlikely the Vikes take Luck even if they do possess the number one pick. Chance of drafting Luck: Nil
Biggest Obstacle to the top pick: Two words; Adrian Peterson. A contender to be the best back in the league will always make the Vikes a threat to win any game and keep them from the top pick.
Biggest Help to the top pick: Two words; Donavon McNabb. Once a super bowl QB, Rush Limbeau’s favorite player appears to be at the end of his career but no ready to admit it. Worse is that the Vikes seem to support his delusional appraisal of his ability to still play at a high level as they refuse to even think about letting Ponder get any playing time.
Miami Dolphins 0-3

On the bright side Indy has the easiest schedule of all the winless teams so the odds of a few fluke wins are high.
QB Situation: Peyton Manning (seriously injured and old), Kerry Collins (seriously bad, maybe injured, oh and really old). It was revealed that reserve QB Curtis “I’m the answer to that trivia question” Painter never takes any snaps in practice w/the team as Peyton runs all the practices. This has set off all kinds of wake up calls around Indy with Peyton’s injury as they suddenly realize how ill prepared they are for the post Peyton era, an era that could come much sooner than later. Chance they will draft Luck: Suddenly very high.
Biggest Obstacle to top pick: The return of the man. This is a team still stocked with plenty of superstars on both sides of the ball and once they figure out how to get just adequate QB play they should contend for a handful of wins again and take themselves out of any serious top pick contention.
Biggest Help to top pick: OC Experience. Let’s face facts offensive coordinator for the Colts was a dream job before Peyton went down. Now suddenly their OC and staff has to stop chilling on the sideline with Mai Thais watching Peyton do it all and game plan?St. Louis Rams 0-3
QB Situation: Sam Bradford. Sam is the league’s last overall number one big money man and his initial play has done plenty to back that payday up. Lately injuries have set him back but he is in no danger of losing his job. Chance to draft Luck: Are pigs flying?

The Suck for Luck Campaign
This will track our Chiefs as they try to lose their way to winning. What exactly is the suck for Luck Campaign? Anybody that follows the NFL knows the worst team each year gets the first pick in the draft. The concenous best player available for next year's draft is Stanford QB Andrew Luck. Thus, with the terrible play of current Chiefs' QB Matt Cassell we hope our team sucks for the right to draft Andrew Luck next year!
